A tesseract is a four-dimensional geometric shape, also known as a hypercube in four dimensions. Just as a cube is a three-dimensional extension of a square, a tesseract is a four-dimensional extension of a cube.

Since the shadow of a three-dimensional object is a two-dimensional shape the shadow of a tesseract who be a three-dimensional object. This also implies that light in a four-dimensional space would be three-dimensional.
